A singer and composer from Granada, Spain, Lara Bello shows the influence of the sounds of the Mediterranean in her music: Flamenco, Arabic Music, Africa and the link between the African and Spanish roots of Latin America. Voted Best Spanish Artist 2010 in the World Music Charts Europe (WMCE) for her first album Niña Pez, in 2012 she released her second album Primero Amarillo Después Malva which opened up the doors to the USA and Latin America, and she was interviewed by PEOPLE Magazine & NPR “The World”. With her third album, based on the Spanish songs collected by the poet Federico García Lorca, Por el agua de Granada: Cancionero Lorquiano, she was interviewed on CNN. In 2014 she was chosen by the Spanish Embassy as their cultural representative in the “European Culture Month” in Washington, where she performed at the Kennedy Center.
Lara Bello tours around the world with her music: Auditorio Radio IMER (Mexico City), Beijing Ninegates International Jazz Festival (Beijing, China), Damascus International Jazz Festival (Syria), The Aga Khan Museum (Toronto, Canada), among others. In 2016 Lara Bello will be on tour presenting a new album.
